What I keep, and what I don't.

What gets collected

Only what you type into a form on this site — your name, email, Instagram handle, business name, the address of a site, and your message. Every field is optional except the one thing needed to act on the request.

There are no advertising cookies, nothing is sold to advertisers, and no attempt is made to work out who you are beyond what you have told me directly.

Google Analytics on this site

This site — webguydisguise.com — uses Google Analytics. It records the usual things: which pages were opened, roughly where in the world the visit came from, what kind of device, and which site you arrived from. Google sets cookies to do it, and the data goes to Google as well as to me.

It's here so I can tell whether any of this is working. You can opt out entirely with Google's official opt-out add-on, or by blocking analytics in your browser — nothing on this site breaks if you do.

The sites I build for other people do not have it. Those count visits without cookies and without any third party involved (see below). Dropping Google's cookies on someone else's customers, on a site they never asked for, isn't my call to make.

Counting visits

The sites built for people here count how many times a page was opened, so the owner can be shown what their site actually did — most of them have never had a website and so have never had a single number about it.

What is recorded is deliberately thin: which site, which page, the day, and the website you arrived from — the site name only, never the full address you came from. What is not recorded: no cookies, no IP address, no device or browser details, no identifier of any kind, and nothing that could link two visits to the same person. It is counting, not tracking, and there is no way to work backwards from it to a human being.

The totals are shown to the owner of that site and used as an honest record of what these builds deliver. They are never sold, and there is no third party involved — the numbers are stored on my own database rather than handed to an analytics company.

Why it's collected

To reply to you and to action what you asked for — building something, changing something, taking something down. That is all. It is never used for marketing, and you will not be added to any list. If you never write again, you will not hear from me again.

Where it goes

• A database — submissions are stored so requests do not get lost. Takedown requests in particular are written down before anything else happens, so an email failure can never lose one.
• Email — a copy is sent so I actually see it. Delivery runs through Resend, an email provider.
• Hosting — this site runs on Vercel, which like any web host keeps standard server logs.

It is not sold, rented, or shared with anyone else, and there is no advertiser or data broker in the chain.

How long it's kept

Until you ask for it gone, or until it is clearly no longer needed. There is no reason to hold old submissions, and no value in doing so.

Getting it deleted

Ask, and it is deleted. No form to fill in, no verification, no exit questions. Use the contact form and say you want your details removed. If you would rather not use a form to ask for removal — which is fair — say so in whatever way suits you and it gets handled.

Sites built for other people

The sites built at subdomains here are made from what businesses have already published publicly. If something on one of those is yours and you want it gone, that is covered by the content and removals policy — same day, no cost, no questions.

Children

This is not intended for children and no attempt is made to collect information from them.

Changes

If this changes, the date at the top changes with it. Nothing here will ever quietly become worse for you without that date moving.
